- Bus riders will enter the school through the side door. Upon entering, students will have the option of going into the cafeteria for breakfast or to the gym to wait until 7:35.
- Walkers, Bike Riders, and Car Riders will enter the school through the main doors. Upon entering, students will have the option of going into the cafeteria for breakfast or to the gym to wait until 7:35.
- At 7:35, students are permitted to go to their classrooms.
- **If you will be dropping your child off in the mornings as a car rider, please follow the safety procedures that are in place:

Afternoon dismissal:
- Students will be dismissed from the classroom starting at 3:00. At that time, students will go to designated areas in order to dismiss safely.
- Bus riders and Newport Lane walkers/bike riders will sit in the main hallway to the left of the 3rd grade hallway.
- Dove Crossing walkers/bike riders will sit in the main hallway to the right of the 3rd grade hallway.
- Kids Klub will line up in the 3rd grade hallway near the water fountains.
- Car riders will line up in the 3rd grade hallway and pod facing the doors leading to the main parking lot.
- **If you will be parking your car and walking up to the building to get your child, your child will dismiss as a WALKER....not as a car rider! We need to be able to keep the outside doorway clear so that car riders can dismiss safely and so that the teachers on duty at the door can hear the car riders being called.
- **If your child's dismissal is going to change, please email me directly before 12:50 that day, call the front office before 2:00, or send a hand-written note with your child in the morning.
Gator Binders:
- Each student will receive a Gator Binder on the first day of school. The Gator Binder will include a student planner and a homework folder. Gator Binders will come home every day.
- Student Planner: Students will write down the weekly focus for each subject. Use this to see each day what your child is working on in class!
- Homework Folder: See the section below for more information about homework!
Homework:
- Students will be assigned homework each Friday and it will be due the next Thursday.
- Students will have math, spelling, and reading homework each week.
- Students have a purple homework folder in their Gator Binders so that homework doesn't get lost or misplaced.
Water Bottles:
- Students may choose to bring a refillable water bottle to school each day, especially while the temperatures are over 90! Water bottles can be refilled as needed from the classroom sinks.
- Water bottles must be able to close completely!
- Insulated water bottles are preferred. Non-insulated bottles leave water rings on students desks, getting papers and materials wet! Non-insulated bottles will be stored on the back counter, and students may get a drink from them by walking to the back counter.
- Water bottles may only have water in them! Students may not add any powdered mix or flavor drops. Please do not send frozen water to school!
- All water bottles will be sent home each Friday to get washed out!
Emergencies:
- Please keep the school phone number (979-694-5890) stored in your contacts in case you need to contact the school quickly!
- Please keep the front office and me up to date on any phone number changes, address changes, medication changes, etc.
Class Blog:
- We will do our best to update the class blog weekly and email out a link to you each time it is updated. The class blog my version of a newsletter and will include dates of upcoming events, important announcements, information about classroom activities, and photos of class happenings!
Crock Pot Cooking:
- I enjoy cooking in my crock pot, and there will be many times throughout the year that the students will help me with this. Sometimes they will help me make something that my family will eat for dinner that night. Other times they will help me make something that they will get to eat before dismissal.
- In the past, my classes have enjoyed making and eating applesauce, pumpkin crumb cake, hot chocolate, apple cider, and strawberry cake in my crock pot!
- It is imperative that I am aware of any food allergies or sensitivities your child has so that I can plan our crock pot cooking adventures accordingly!
