First Week-Phew!
Mrs. McEwen and I had a great first week getting to know your precious kiddos and getting back into the swing of things! It usually takes a good two weeks to get routines, procedures, and sleeping habits back in order, so we're gearing up for this second week of school!
Parent Orientation
Parent orientation for 3rd grade is this Thursday, September 4th, from 5:30-6:30 pm. We will meet together in one of our classrooms to share with you pertinent info for 3rd grade as well as to answer any questions you might have so far! Creek View will be providing child care for any child that is potty-trained or older. We hope to see you all there!
First HW Assignments
The students were given their first academic homework assignments on Friday! Homework will be passed out every Friday and will be due the following Thursday!
If students have questions about the homework, they are able to ask us about it before announcements Monday mornings, Tuesday mornings, and Wednesday mornings. We will not answer any homework questions on Thursday mornings, as the expectation is that the homework will already be complete to turn in.
Students will not turn in spelling homework. The students should be studying their individualized lists on their own each evening for the spelling tests on Thursdays. A list of activities students can do to study their spelling words is in their Gator Binders.
Planners
Last week we practiced copying the daily focus for each class into our planners. If you are ever wondering what your child is learning about, the planner is a great place to look!
Stasney's Homeroom-Fire Station Field Trip Monday morning!
Mrs. McEwen's homeroom went on the walking field trip to Fire Station #3 on Friday morning, and my homeroom will be going on Monday morning! We will be leaving CV at 8:15 and will arrive back at school before 10:00. Your child will need to wear last year's navy CV shirt. If your child does not have one, please try to wear a dark blue shirt so we can quickly identify our students. Your child may also bring a water bottle (labeled with his/her name) to drink from on the trip back.
Friends & Family Scrapbooks
Both classes will be creating a Friends and Family Scrapbook. This is in place of the Friends and Family Board many other classrooms have. Our books will be in our classroom safe places, and the students will have access to them when they are feeling anxious, upset, angry, sad, etc. The pictures often spark memories of happier times for the students and help them feel better.
Several children have already brought in pictures for our scrapbooks. If yours has not, please have him/her do so by this Thursday so we can create our individual pages on Friday.
Contact Us!
If you have questions/concerns/wonderings, please shoot us a quick email! We want all of us-the students, their families, and us-to have a great year, but we need you to be our partners in this! Our email addresses are:
Mrs. Autumn McEwen (ELA-reading, writing, spelling, grammar): [email protected]
Mrs. Laura Stasney (math, science, & social studies): [email protected]
