December Already?!?!
I don't know about you, but this year has flown by so far! I cannot believe it is already December! We have three weeks of learning and working until our next break from school!
Published Authors!!
Thanks to a grant Mrs. McEwen was given by the CSISD Education Foundation, both classes will be publishing a hardbound book of poems! Each child will have his/her poem in the class book which will be placed in the CV library! You also have the opportunity to purchase a book for your child to keep at home! Order forms and more information are coming home in students' Monday Folders today.
**Even if you do not wish to purchase a book for your child, you need to check the "NO" box at the bottom of the order form, sign it, and return it to school so that your child's poem can be included in the class book.**
Santa and His Elves....
Third grade seems to be the year where some students start figuring out the truth about Santa and his elves, while others are still firm believers in the magic of Christmas. If your child is one who has discovered the "truth" behind the magic, please have a discussion with him/her about NOT spilling the beans to the rest of the students. Kids feel empowered by knowledge, and year after year there is always someone who tries to share this knowledge with their classmates. Heated discussions, arguments, and a couple of shoves have occurred in the past because of the sharing of this knowledge. Please talk with your child about letting a student's family be the ones to break the news about Santa.
Homework Reminder
Just a reminder that students received their homework the week BEFORE Thanksgiving and it is due this week, Thursday, December 4th!
Spelling Bee
Creek View has signed up for the Scripps National Spelling Bee. It is time for our class to conduct its annual Spelling Bee to find a class representative for the CV Spelling Bee on Wednesday, December 17th. The students have received a list of words to practice for our class Spelling Bee on Friday, December 5th. Although the Spelling Bee is a wonderful opportunity to practice spelling, students are not required to participate in this event. However, we would like for everyone to try!
Miss Smith
Tuesday, December 2nd, is the last day for Miss Smith, the A&M students who has been working in Mrs. Stasney's class. On Monday, we made cards and a class gift. Miss Smith has been a wonderful asset to our classes this semester and she will be missed!!
