Baby It's Cold Outside!!
Winter weather has hit College Station the past week or so! Please help make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the day's weather. Even if your child is a car rider and walks quickly from your car to the building, please have him/her wear a warm coat every day! We hope to be able to go outside to recess, but we have been unable to do so some days because students are dressed in shorts or short sleeves without a jacket.
We plan to take the children outside for recess each day that the wind chill factor is not too low. Per CSISD policy, students should not have recess outside when temperature or wind child factor drop below 36 degrees. We go to recess around 10:20 each morning. Although the day time high temperature might be 50 degrees, it is often still very chilly at 10:20!
Grandparents' Lunch
Creek View will host its annual Grandparents' Lunch next Tuesday, November 25th. Of course, guests don't have to be grandparents! Any family that would like to come eat with a child is invited! Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before our scheduled lunch times so that you have enough time to park and check in with the front office. Our lunch times are listed below as a reminder:
Mrs. McEwen's homeroom: 10:51-11:21
Mrs. Stasney's homeroom: 10:54-11:54.
After eating lunch together, you are invited to browse and shop at the Book Fair that will be set up in the Creek View library. In addition to adding books to your home library, the book fair serves as a fundraiser for our CV library and PTO!
If you want to check your child out early on this day, please make sure you have completed and returned the blue Student Check Out Form (email us if you need another). This will allow you to check your child out through us in the classrooms after lunch instead of having to go through what is sure to be a very long line in the office!
Library
Speaking of book fair, both classes will have the opportunity to preview the book fair this Friday morning. Students will be able to write down the titles of books they would like.
And...both classes will go to the library on Tuesday this week to check out books. Please help your child remember his/her library books. This is the only opportunity he/she will have to check out books for the next two weeks. The books need to last the students over the Thanksgiving holiday!
More Friday Happenings...
This Friday is 3rd grade's Golden Gators awards ceremony from 8:20-9:00 in the cafeteria. If your child is receiving a Golden Gator award, you will receive either a phone call or email from us! :)
Homework Heroes for the 2nd six weeks will also be this Friday, from 1:45-2:45 in our classrooms. Students may bring board games, card games, or puzzles! No electronic devices or games will be allowed. Not sure? Email us beforehand! Like every day, students may also bring their own snacks to enjoy during this time.
Reading
For those of you interested in using the question stems packet given out during parent conferences last month, the students have been studying and learning about characters and the changes they undergo during a story (TEKS 3.8B) as well as synonyms and antonyms (3.4C).
