Aggie Student Helper!
One of the great things about CSISD is that we often are able to get an extra set of hands and eyes in our classrooms from Texas A&M! This semester, I (Mrs. Stasney) will have a senior methods student from the College of Education at A&M working with me in my classroom every Monday and Tuesday! Her name is Ms. Smith, and I wanted to tell you so you would know who your child is talking about when he/she mentions her! Ms. Smith started this past week, and will be with us until just after Thanksgiving! Ms. Smith will spend time observing me teach, working with students one-on-one and in small groups, as well as teach a whole group lesson herself! She'll do her student teaching in the Conroe area starting in January, and this semester is an opportunity for her to get ready for that!
Progress Reports
The first progress reports of the school year come home this Wednesday. Please review your child's report, and then sign and return it back to school. Please note that the students will not have a grade for science yet, as we have just wrapped up our first Social Studies unit and are just getting started with science!
Monday Folders
Just a reminder that students will bring home a Monday folder every week full of graded work and notes from the school. Also in each child's Monday folder is his/her behavior card. Please take a few moments each Monday evening to review the papers in the folder and to sign the behavior card. If you are unable to review it on Monday, it is okay for your child to keep it at home an extra day or two until you can!
Unfinished Work
When students do not finish classroom assignments in the allotted time during the school day, the students place their unfinished work in the red pocket charts hanging outside our rooms in the 3rd grade pod. Every day before recess, we tell the students that if they have unfinished work from either class, that they need to stay in to complete it. Some students, however, have been choosing to go outside instead and then tell us that they didn't know they had unfinished work. Often this results in the students receiving a zero on the assignment. We are working hard to teach the students responsibility and accountability for their own work. If you see your child has a zero on an assignment, please discuss with them the importance of being responsible for their work and remind them that they may stay in any day during recess to get the work finished. (When the students stay in a recess, it usually takes them less than 10 minutes to complete their unfinished work, so they still get a fair amount of recess time to unwind and enjoy)!
